When people talk about sustainable and organic agriculture, they often tend to think of it as a theoretical concept, far removed from daily practice.
For OP Isola Verde, however, sustainability is a concrete choice that translates into every stage of agricultural work, from soil management to the harvesting of baby leaves. It is a daily commitment that takes shape in the fields and greenhouses, thanks to the collaboration between member companies that share the same vision: farming with respect for the land and the people.
What is meant by sustainable agriculture?
Sustainable agriculture is a production model that aims to preserve natural resources while simultaneously guaranteeing the quality, safety, and continuity of production.
It means working with respect for the environment, reducing the impact on soil, water, and biodiversity, and adopting agricultural practices that maintain the balance of ecosystems. In this approach, every choice matters: from crop management to soil care, and attention to the climate and available resources.
OP Isola Verde: a shared and controlled agricultural supply chain
OP Isola Verde is a consortial agricultural company based in Telgate, near Bergamo, operating with production sites in Lombardy and Campania.
Currently, our Group consists of 19 member companies, united by a common goal: growing delicious, safe, and genuine salads following a supply chain that is controlled and shared at every stage. Thanks to production sites located in both the provinces of Bergamo and Salerno, we are able to guarantee Category I (fresh) baby leaves throughout the entire year.
A sustainable and organic production model
The production structure of OP Isola Verde extends over more than 280 hectares of greenhouse crops. Of these, more than 110 hectares are cultivated using organic methods, while over 170 hectares follow integrated production, a system that combines control, sustainability, and environmental awareness. This balance between different production methods allows us to meet market demands without compromising on quality or respect for natural resources. Let’s look together at what we do in practice and all the advantages of the OP Isola Verde method for the environment.
1. We protect natural resources
One of the central elements of the OP Isola Verde production method is the responsible management of natural resources. Water is used in a controlled manner, the soil is preserved through targeted agronomic practices, and biodiversity is protected as a fundamental part of the production system. Our goal is to reduce the environmental impact of crops while maintaining high quality standards.
2. We guarantee full supply chain traceability
Every stage of our production is subject to constant checks and controls. From sowing to harvesting and packaging, every batch of baby leaves is monitored to ensure safety, transparency, and consistent quality. This system allows us to offer customers reliable salads that are consistent with the high standards of our Consortium.
3. We adopt sustainable agricultural practices
Sustainability at OP Isola Verde also translates into the adoption of advanced and responsible agricultural practices. Sowing, irrigation, and treatments are managed according to precise technical criteria, with the aim of optimizing resources and improving the quality of the final product. Agricultural innovation, combined with the experience of our member companies, thus becomes a concrete tool to make production increasingly efficient and sustainable.
The strength of a Group, a commitment that starts from the land
The true strength of OP Isola Verde is being a Group. A network of farms that share common values, skills, and goals, building together every day a production model founded on collaboration and responsibility. This synergy ensures continuity, quality, and reliability throughout the supply chain. It is a result born from the meeting of people, companies, and different territories, all united by a common vision: farming while respecting nature, valuing resources, and building a production system capable of making a mark in the industry. Because this is precisely the goal of our organic and sustainable agriculture: to make sustainability not an abstract principle, but the concrete mission on which our daily work is based.
